Description
Ornamental stoneware pottery jug with enlarged handle and slip trailed dots on spout, ideal for flower arranging or as ornament!
Hand building process
The jug is hand built from grey stoneware clay, which dries to an off white. The jug is painted with white slip and dots are slip trailed on the inside of the spout. The jugs has two firings, the first to around 1100 degrees centigrade and the second, to over 1200 degrees. Prior to the second firing, the jug is glazed with 3 coats an off white satin. As the jugs are handmade, the shapes can be irregular – each item is unique! The process takes more than 2 weeks to complete – this allows for the original rolling out, drying before the first firing, glazing and then final firing and cooling.
The price is for one jug, handmade in my studio in the Surrey Hills
