Description
Stoneware pottery cup and saucer with imprinted design on both. The saucer is high rimmed and has a cut out the the cup handle to sit in. Ideal for drinking tea and coffee!
Hand building process
Each cup and saucer is made from grey stoneware clay, which dries to a beautiful soft white. The cups are impressed with a lace-like design and the saucer a matching spoon shaped imprint. The cup has a visible wavy join on both the outer and inner seam. Both have two firings, the first to around 1100 degrees centigrade and the second to over 1200 degrees. As the cups and saucers are not made using a wheel, the shapes are likely to be irregular – each item is unique! The process takes more than 2 weeks to complete – this allows for the original rolling out, drying before the first firing, glazing and then final firing and cooling.
