Stoneware pottery mug with imprinted design, ideal for drinking tea and coffee!
Hand building process
Each mug is made from grey stoneware clay, which dries to an off white. The clay is rolled and then impressed with a lace-like design, and then joined with a visible seam. When leather hard the handle is attached. The mug has two firings, the first to around around 1060 degrees centigrade and the second, to over 1200 degrees. As the mug is hand built, the shape can be irregular – each one is unique! The process takes more than 2 weeks to complete – this allows for the original rolling out, drying before the first firing, glazing and then final firing and cooling.
The price is for one of mug, handmade in my studio in the Surrey Hills
