Description
Stoneware pottery cup and saucer with imprinted design on both with standard saucer. Ideal for drinking tea and coffee!
Hand building process
Each cup and saucer is made from grey stoneware clay, which dries to a beautiful soft white. The cups are impressed with a lace-like design and the saucer a matching spoon shaped imprint. The cup has a visible wavy join on both the outer and inner seam. Both the cup and saucer have two firings, the first to around 1060 degrees centigrade and the second to over 1200 degrees. As the cup and saucer are hand built, the shapes can be irregular – each item is unique! The process takes more than 2 weeks to complete – this allows for construction time, drying before the first firing, glazing and then final firing and cooling.
The prices are for one cup and saucer, handmade in my studio in the Surrey Hills
