Tea Light Holders
Each tea light holder is thrown on the wheel from grey stoneware clay, which dries to an attractive off white. The holders are left to dry, usually overnight and then trimmed with wire tools again on the wheel to refine the shape. After this process, the little holder is then left for a minimum of a week to completely dry so no moisture is left in the clay before the first firing. After this firing (the “bisque or biscuit” firing) – the glaze is applied and a second firing occurs. The complete process takes at least two weeks to complete but often longer as I only fire when the kiln is full, conserving electricity and being as kind to the environment as possible.
Whilst I am keen to keep the tea holders as uniform as possible, they are hand made and each will have it’s own unique attributes.
The price is for two tea light holders hand made in my studio in the Surrey Hills. As my studio is small, I don’t have huge stocks and ONLY A PAIR are available at any one time. I am always happy to make more in other colours – please email me if you are interested.
