Hand cut wine cooler to chill wines, indoor or out, or maybe as a vase with colourful flowers to brighten up your home!
Hand building process
The clay for the wine cooler is hand rolled from grey stoneware clay. Once it has reached a semi-plastic state it is attached to the base. Once, the clay is leather hard, shapes are cut out at the top of the wine cooler to form individual designs and allowed to set before refining. The clay is then dried for around a week before the bisque firing, which is to around 1100 degrees. After cooling, three coats of clear glaze are applied to the interior of the wine cooler to over 1200 degrees.
As this is a handmade product, it will be subject to irregularities in shape – each one is unique! The process takes around than 2-3 weeks to complete – this allows for the hand rolling of each wine cooler, drying before the first firing, glazing and then final firing and cooling.
The price is for one wine cooler handmade in my studio in the Surrey Hills
