Stoneware flower pottery coasters for protecting surfaces from heat
Hand building process
The clay for the coasters is hand rolled from grey stoneware clay and then impressed with flower designs. The coasters are then left to dry under boards to reduce warpage. The coasters have two firings, the first to around 1100 degrees centigrade and the second, to over 1200 degrees. Prior to the final firing, the coasters have three coats of a blue gloss glaze. Whilst every attention is made in refining the coasters, they will be subject to irregularities in shape – each one is unique! The process takes around than 2-3 weeks to complete – this allows for the hand rolling of each coaster, drying before the first firing, glazing and then final firing and cooling.
Each coaster has rubber feet to preserve your furniture.
The price is for 4 coasters, handmade in my studio in the Surrey Hills
