Description
Stoneware pottery jug with enlarged handle and spout, ideal for all liquids or for arranging flowers!
Hand building process
The jug is made from grey stoneware clay, which dries to an off white. The clay for the jug is hand rolled when very plastic and allowed to set until rigid enough to work with to shape the spout, the handle and sides of the jug. The handle is connected when leather hard and allowed to set and dry. The mugs have two firings, the first to around 1100 degrees centigrade and before the second firing three coats of glaze are applied, this firing reaches over 1200 degrees. As the jug is handmade, the shape can be irregular – each item is unique! The process takes more than 2-3 weeks to complete – this allows for the original rolling out, drying before the first firing, glazing and then final firing and cooling.
The price is for one jug, handmade in my studio in the Surrey Hills
